Sorry. Everytime I think about Sloppy Joes I always sing that song by Adam Sandler. Love that man!
So I came to the realization that it's pretty sad that I have not made some pretty "basic" meals in my life - meatloaf, pot roast, and....Sloppy Joes!
I found this recipe for TURKEY Joes. And I do love my ground turkey.
This was so. good. I will DEFINITELY be makin' these babies again! I think the mustard (and BBQ sauce) add a lil' somethin' somethin' to the mix. (*Do "regular" Sloppy Joes have mustard and BBQ sauce?) I'm thinking you could use fake meat and they would still turn out - the sauce is where it's at, baby.
After I went all buck wild on Almond Butters in my house, I finally used up some old jars and was able to rip into this puppy: Briden Wilson Farm Almond Butter.
I won this from a contest on Heather's blog. WOW. Can I just say, wow?! It's going to be so hard to go back to "normal" almond butter after this! I've never made my own AB, but this is how I would imagine it would taste if I did. Very, very fresh. Kind of "gritty," if you will. But not in a bad way! I like to taste my nuts (TWSS). Thanks, HEAB!
Almond Butter is one of the best things to come out of my blog stalkingsurfing. I don't know what I'd do without it now! Of course, as luck would have it, it's also $$$. For now I'll stick to Trader Joe's - though Maranatha has my heart. What's the best new food you've found in the last year?

Ooo those Joes look awesome! I always forget about SJ's and I need to remember them more often because they are tast-E!
I'm with you on the almond butter being my favorite find over the last year. It.is.so.good. and one of the most addicting things I've ever eaten!
That is too funny, I totally made some joe's the other week too feelin' the same way - I rarely make nostalgic "normal" dinners for us... they turned out good and it sounds like yours did too! Yum :)
This is weird... I don't think I've ever had a slopping joe before! I'm dying to try one. And I put mustard on everything.
Your turkey joes look great!! I bet I would looooove them!! :) Have you tried snobby joes? I haven't, but might have to sometime soon.
I love this question!! My favorite food find of the past year is TJ's almond butter!! I had never had AB that really impressed me until then!! :-)
Dude, every time I think of sloppy Joes I think of the same song!!! Shloppeh Joe, Shloppeh-shloppeh jooooeee...
Random fact: I busted into "At A Medium Pace" in the middle of my buddy's wedding reception and suddenly about 50 of us were singing it. NOT appropriate. Oh well.
I guess the best food I've discovered in the past year would have to be...oh, this is boring, but canned garbanzo beans. I put them in EVERYTHING. I wish I had a more fun answer. :)
This is a dumb question, but what is pot roast? Obviously, I've never made it either.
I love ground turkey too ... looks delicious!!! : )
Ive never had almond butter. . . hmmmmmm :)
Love sloppy joes! I do them with red beans (my sloppy janes) and they are just delicious.
Almond butter is the bomb! My favorite varieties are Justin's and MaraNatha
Hmmm favorite product I've found in the last year-Naturally more peanut butter. Its a great sweet nut butter (for those days when I'm not in a savory mood)
Those Joe's sound great! I've never made a lot of the 'classic' recipes either...
Oh my gosh- foods in the last year? So many since getting into blogging more! Oatmeal pancakes, pumpkin oats, nut butters, hummus... I wouldn't be able to pick a favourite.
Yum Sloppy Joe's! I need to maske them! It's been so long! There are so many foods I've discovered from blogging...Chobani, Almond Butter, Green Smoothies...pretty much everything!
I'm going to try making some porobello and bell pepper sloppy joes this week!
i dunno i cant get into ground turkey- it tastes funny to me. not that i eat ground meat very often, so it doesnt make too much of a difference
Hey girl :) Candy is wonderful hehe. I get mine at the regular ole candy store in the bins (although they do sell it in bagged form as some speciality stores)
