So this morning I did something TOTALLY out of the norm for me - I had a "hearty" breakfast rather than my usual "sweet" breakfast. I cooked an egg and paired it with a slice of Provolone cheese + some avocado.
The verdict? This was pretty good! I should've added some hummus, though, because it was a little lackin' in the flavah department for me.
Did it keep me full? Uh...big fat NO. I ate my breakfast around 8:30 and my belly was rumbling around 9 already. Seriously, what is my deal??? I had a handful of almonds, but even that didn't tide me over. I had a banana around 9:45 and ended up eating lunch around 12:30. Sigh....better luck tomorrow.
So my girl friends, sisters and I get together every Monday night to watch "The Bachelor" (I know...I know). Usually we rotate bringing things and I get a little nervous because 4 of the girls don't really eat healthy foods, and some are struggling to lose baby weight so it's always a sensitive issue. (AKA - I don't want to be called out for being the only healthy eater).
Anywho, I wanted to bring something healthy without it screaming RABBIT FOOD. And of course I always have a hankering for some Key Lime in my life. One of the best desserts I've ever had was Key Lime Pie on a stick that I had in Key West. I can't think of it without my mouth watering! I looked into getting a box shipped to Indiana - just can't justify $150, though.
I found this recipe for Key Lime Pie and gave it a whirl. The only other KLP I've made before has been the "no bake" kind...felt kind of weird sticking this in the oven?
Before Cool Whip....
After Cool Whip....
I only tasted the filling so far (what friend am I if I don't sample what I bring??) but OH my gosh. So, so good!
What's your favorite kind of pie? Mine would probably be Key Lime or Peanut Butter. Mmmmm! With Apple and Pumpkin falling right behind in 2nd place.

Your pie looks so yummy! I am definitely a pumpkin sorta gal. I've never eaten it in the summer though!
I used to get together with a girlfriend once a week to watch America's Next Top Model. Fun Times!
It's funny how different foods affect different people's fullness. I eat basically what you had almost every morning and it keeps me full until lunch. Give me oatmeal and I'll be hungry in an hour.
That pie looks good.
MMm tasty.
I find that two poached eggs on two pieces of wholegrain toast is the perfect amount to keep me satisfied for hours.

Your breakfast looks delicious, too bad it didn't keep you full though :(
At a wedding I went to a few years ago, instead of a cake they had a huge dessert station with tons of various treats. One of those was chocolate covered (!) key lime pies on a stick. People are still talking about those to this day!!
My favorite pie is definitely the most sinful of all. My grandma's southern pecan pie. SOOOOOOOOOOO heavenly and I always treasure those bites as I only eat it once a year at thanksgiving!!!
Bummer about bfast not holding you over!!!!! I think everyones tummy is so different that you just have to eat what works for you/holds you over! Josh LOVES key lime pie. In fact, I'm planning on making him key lime pie bars for our anniversary next week. Your pie looks fab girl!
wow I am really surprised that breakfast didn't hold you over that long! that is always so annoying!

I'm not a big pie person (cookies, please!), but I do enjoy a good pecan pie and pumpkin pie. This place by my apartment makes delicious pies, and I've had their key lime as well as pecan, and I have to say it was yummy! Let us know how yours comes out!
Yum!! That pie looks delicious!
I was happy she picked Ed!! But I really did like Reid too - he was so cute. Can't wait to watch the "after the rose" thing tonight :)
Definitely pick up that book. And read it slowly - because it's pretty deep (well it was for me). It helps alot with feeling anxious about the past or the future too.
