Monkey See, Monkey Do

I am turning into a monkey.

I tend to hoard bananas since I eat ripe ones in my oatmeal every morning and in my smoothies. OBVIOUSLY I have a fear that I will run out, go to the grocery, and they will only have green naners - bleehh! So I stock up at least twice a week to ensure this doesn't happen.

Do you hoard any foods? There are certain foods I canNOT go without and always make sure I have extras - PB (obvi), apples, and greek yogurt (mmmmm).

On a side note, I have been absolutely exhausted lately. We aren't just talking one day a week, but every single morning and afternoon I am just beat. In the evenings a lot of times I get sort of a second wind, but not always. In true Holly fashion, I've already tried to diagnose myself. I'm thinking it might be one of the following reasons:

1. Not getting at least 7 hours of sleep a night (I've been getting between 6 and 6 1/2)
2. Not drinking caffeine everyday (I usually drink it 2-3 times a week)
3. Anemia? Far fetch but my iron levels are sometimes too low to give blood.
4. Pregnancy? hahaha JUST KIDDING.
5. Not sleeping as soundly at night (my neighbor's dog...ugh!)
6. Being kept up by an insanely hot man who won't keep his hands off me

Do you ever have periods where you are exhausted and can't wake up?

Today I am thankful for:

- 4th of July falling on the weekend!
- Jeans Days at work - I am easily pleased.
- New CD's/Music!

I have been exhausted like that too, and usually am only getting 6 hours or LESS of sleep a night. I think that is what it is. Today I slept an extra hour and feel great (so far). I sometimes get the second wind too. Weird!

We usually buy 20 bananas a week for 2 people! My husband and I love bananas, but it is hard to control how fast they get ripe, so we make lots of banana muffins, donuts, cookies, bread, etc. ;)

I go through phases like those too...were I am just beat. It is awful! Sometimes I feel so bad that I would think I have mono, but I got that in college, so I know I don't. Miserable!

Could it be your blood sugar? I at times get hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Apparently the opposite of diabetes. According to my doctor, this isn't exactly a bad thing and there isn't really anything I need to do about it. I just need to snack small and more often when my body is behaving this way. I found this out randomly through blood work that my doctors were doing because of my Crohn's. I don't really give it much thought but when I am having low energy ruts I try and see if a small snack will help (the doc. recommends fruits, PB, etc....slowly digesting items with natural sugars when my body acts this way.)

Who knows....

HA HA HA!

i hoard peanut butter big time! however, we are out now and i'm not happy about it. this is when i buy 2 or 3 at a time so it dosent happen again LOL

I need to turn into a monkey-- but bananas and i arent on the same page. the texture makes me gag. i really should suck it up though.

i've been having sleep issues too. there is a trick i try if i cant go to bed. its probably really dumb but if you balance on one leg with your eyes closed for 30 seconds its supposed to help you fall alseep faster. i guess it gives your brain something to focus on if it wont stop thinking. i heard in a magazine or on some self help channel. it actually does work! lol so sometimes you'll see me standing on one foot with my eyes closed trying to balance. not gonna lie, this is not an easy task at hand! LOL

i'm thankful for
-days off
-holidays
-peanut butter LOL

happy 4th lady!!!
xoxo

I can't say that I hoard any food but I can say that I absolutely HATE ripe bananas. They have to be a little green on top or else I won't eat tiem. Ripe bananas= Yuck :)

I've been really tired this week too and one night this week I couldn't fall alseep. I need at least 8 hours of sleep but usually don't get it.

I hoard similar foods- almond butter, apples, and bananas. I like mine to be browning, too :)

Exhaustion is usually a combination of a bunch of different things. But number six is pretty likely too ;)

I used to not be a big banana person, but now I always need to have some in the kitchen! It is a little inconvenient since they ripen so quickly, but that just means I have to eat them more regularly, haha.

PB, like you, is another staple. I also try to always have hummus and nuts around for a quick energizing snack.

I was also really tired all day, every day a few weeks ago, and honestly still can't pinpoint what caused it. I find it hard to get more than 6 1/2-7 hours of sleep a night too, there just aren't enough hours in the day! Can you try playing around with what kinds of food you eat and when you eat them? My nutritionist suggested eating bigger lunches with more protein and keeping dinner and dessert to under 500 calories, and so far I feel like I have more energy.

This week I am exhausted! I don't know what it is, but I can't get my butt out of bed in the a.m. and just feel drained all day long! Maybe it's something in the air!

I just found your blog, so "hello"! I also hoard bananas because I have the same problem- run out, go to the store and they are all GREEN! Gah. I inevitably end up with a couple of black mushy ones by the end of the week :P

I have energy dip periouds too- I think it's partly weather related. I seem to be really sensitive to changes in weather and live in Scotland where it's constantly changing!

That list was hilarious! It made me laugh - the hot man and being pregnant; I can scratch those 2 off my list :)

I hoard apples, greek yogurt, turkey, peanut butter, and gum!!! I feel lost when I do not have them in the house...especially the gum haha.

I also go through phases where I am exhausted every day. It usually happens when I don't get enough sleep but still work out too hard. PMS causes it too! Hope you get some rest!

I definitely hoard bananas too! I was laughing reading what you said about how you have a fear that you'll run out and the grocery store will only have green ones!! I can totally relate!! I also hoard PB, apples, and tortillas for my daily wraps.

This is my first time visiting and I love your blog! I especially like how you write 3 things you're thankful for each day. I used to have a gratitude journal that I kept all through college, but stopped. Maybe I should start up again!

As for your exhaustion... do you think it has anything to do with hormones? Possibly PMS?

I used to have lots of tired periods where I had a hard time getting out of bed. Amazing Grass has REALLY helped, and I have felt awesome since I starting adding it to my green monsters.
