A Few of my Favorite Things

So I know many of us are in the same (gravy) boat here….but with the holidays fast approaching, I wanted to ask:

What is your favorite Thanksgiving/Fall dish? (Healthy and unhealthy?)

My favorite (unhealthy) Thanksgiving dish would have to be stuffing, probably because I know I'll only eat it once a year. My grandma makes the MOST DELISH stuffing ever….I don't think I could ever replicate it. My favorite HEALTHY Turkey Day dish is (diabetic friendly) crustless pumpkin pie my mom makes. YUM! Now, I'm a girl who likes her crust, but this is good stuff.

Ya'll always have great ideas, so I'm hoping to steal some from you!

And now, a song my friend's preschooler learned at school (picture a reallllly cute kid singing it): :-)

I'm a Little Turkey (I'm a Little Teapot)

I'm a little turkey, Turkey Ted.
Here are my feathers, here is my head.
"Gobble, gobble, gobble," is what I say,
"Hurry! Run! It's Thanksgiving Day!"

Every single thing my family makes on Thanksgiving is kinda not healthy. I love my grandpa's stuffing. I don't even know what the heck is in it, but it's delicious and now my mom makes it.

Erica - ahhh! I am SO spacey, I swear. And I totally read and posted on your blog before I wrote this! Can you tell what I was thinking about all day at work? :-) (What can I eat next week? What can I eat next week?)

Heather - I am the same way. I found out a couple of years ago that my grandma's stuffing had oysters in it....it kind of grossed me out at first, but it's still my fave. Just don't tell me what's in it, and I'm good!!

Sagan - LOVE Mashed potatoes. And sweet potatoes. Garlic mashed potatoes are my fave! I wish I could make apple pie...I'm too scared to try. But MAN that sounds good right now...

Your heat is still broken? Get the heck out of here? Thats crazy! I hope it gets fixed this weekend. How are you doing with the diet coke by the way?

Crustless pie?! I've never even heard of that! IS it just the inside stuff without the crust? And is it diabetic friendly because the sugary crust is absent??

My favorite part of the meal is the tender roast turkey with cranberry and gravy. To be honest I can't even remember if we serve sweet potato at the meal. If we do, then that would be it, too. And the pecan pie. I can't wait to have my slice!

VeggieGirl - I need to give poor cranberries another chance. I just remember my mom forcing cranberry juice down my throat when I had a bladder infection (I was probably 7 or 8) and I haven't touched anything c-berry related since! I'm going to try it this year...hey, tastes change, right?

Seeleelive - The pie is so yummy! I always like the filling the best, anyway. I'll try to remember to post the recipe for you. I guess I say it's diabetic friendly because my grandpa and mom (who are both diabetic) always eat this, and it's kind of made for them (and me, too!). And I LOOOOOOVE me some pecan pie!!

Blonde Duck - isn't it great??! I always wonder, "WHY do we only eat this once a year??!!"

but I did :)

Miz, who adores the cranberries.

Miz - it's seriously so cute...kids love it! I do the motions with them, too (I'm such a kid, I know).

Sounds like a fun thanksgiving! I have taller friends and friends with really long legs (I only hate you people a little bit ;) so I totally understand your struggles as well! My friend Kelley and I use to joke that we were going to cut the bottoms of my pants off and sew them on hers ;)
